Attorney Zarazúa’s father, Aquilino Zarazúa, came to the United States in 1945 as a Bracero. Thanks to his support and her hard work, Attorney Zarazúa was able to obtain a formal education and became a California attorney. She maintains her own legal practice in Monterey County, California and has been in practice since 1987.
While a student, Ms. Zarazúa worked for the Peace Corps Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and at Goodrich, Little, Riquelme & Associates, a Mexico City law firm. After law school, Ms. Zarazúa clerked for the California Supreme Court in San Francisco.
In 2003, then Mexico’s President, Vicente Fox, appointed Ms. Zarazúa to serve as Honorary Consul of Mexico for the Counties of Monterey and Santa Cruz, a lifetime designation. She has also served on the board of international advisers for the Monterey Institute of International Studies (now, Middlebury Institute for International Studies in Monterey). Ms. Zarazúa graduated from Pitzer College of Claremont Colleges with a degree in foreign languages. She earned a Master of Business Administration from UC Berkeley; a Juris Doctor from the University of Santa Clara; and a Master of Taxation from Golden Gate University. While attending Santa Clara University, Ms. Zarazúa served as editor for the Student Law Review and was recognized as the Best Oral Advocate In the law school’s moot court competition . She has completed studies in Oxford, England; Rome, Italy; and Guadalajara, Mexico.
Attorney Blanca E. Zarazúa helped secure one of California’s Top 20 Settlements of 2017 when she served as legal counsel to several Latino plaintiffs whose cars were unjustly seized by King City, CA police officers. The case ended with a judgement of over one million (1 mm) dollars.
